I’ve just returned from an awesome surfing adventure in Morocco!

Apart from the rough waves claiming our little go pro camera, a lost suitcase and frequent police checks/pay off’s I’ve had a wonderful time and thoroughly recommend a trip over there.

Marrakech was one of the most surreal places I’ve ever been to- the markets (souks) are labyrinth-like tunnels, crammed with everything from lamps, pottery, and jewellery… to turtles, snake charmers, belly dancers and monkeys.

The surfing spots are pretty impressive too- paddling out through the waves as the sun went down was a moment I’ll never forget.

So I’m a bit bruised from the swell and the tan is peeling but I’m very inspired to get on with more exciting projects and my own personal goblin market/ e-book illustrations…so watch this space!

Many thanks go out to CYFLE who recently invited me to teach Illustrator CS5 to their Digital Dimension trainees.

I must admit I had my work cut out, I’d never taught for more than a few hours in one go – let alone x2 full day sessions!

But the class where brilliant to work with and got the hang of vector graphics in no time – I’m so impressed with their creations and the standard of their logo design’s gave me a run for my money!

I wish all the trainees the best of luck with the rest of the 7 month course, and as a fellow CYFLE student (creating My Green Book) it really is such a helping hand into the creative industry.

As part of the ‘GO-Ideas’ project, I worked with a talented group of pupils from Pontypridd High School, helping them create artworks from a variety of recycled fabrics.

I had a great time with the group, who go stuck in and even created more than one artwork each! See below..and our ‘work in progress photos’.

The artworks are due to be exhibited soon, and I hope all students and parents will be as proud of the quality and standard as I am!
I’ll be holding more workshops over the next few months…So more examples to follow soon!

I recently submitted a space version of my Goblin Market illustration for the Cardiff Design Festival Exhibition taking place in October : spaceexhibition.co.uk

Together with GO-Ideas Director Alan Golding, I held art workshops with pupils from Y Pant Comprehensive School, named ‘A Smack of JellyFish’.

The class had the task to create illustrative artworks from poems using recycled materials that where then to be exhibited in the local gallery.

I have to say I was blown away with the skills and enthusiasm from all the class and had such an amazing time working with everyone…even though I was being filmed throughout! (The project is also being turned into a documentary.)

So here’s a few snaps of the exhibit, thanks to all the pupils for their hard work and to everyone who came to see the results!

The creators of Bobadeg have been busy bringing the characters to life with shows and events for children hosted around Swansea.

It was really lovely to see the kids had got stuck in colouring the characters I’d created for the storybooks and the fabric versions of the backdrops are spot-on…nice work Fiona & team!

Ok, this was a while back -but Crayon Skateboards  held a deck design comp in the Magpie Gallery Cardiff…and my doodled board made it to the final!

The lovely folk at repeatxrepeaty.com asked me to submit a pattern for their online galley of free patterns. Loads of lovely stuff by some amazing illustrators – so thanks to The Meek Shall for his ingenious creation.

S4C have launched a new colourful TV series for children – Marcaroni!

Working with the program creators Ceidiog I created the game environments for children to solve the puzzles for each of the TV characters.

The games include helping Marc (the lead character) get a good nights sleep by counting sheep, making rhyme soup in the kitchen with Oli and composing a song by popping bubbles in the bath!
